SCHURTER Extends MSM Line to Include Switch with Larger Actuation Area

Schurter Logo1.jpg

Schurter has expanded its popular stainless steel MSM series with the addition of a 30 mm diameter switch. The current product line is already available in 16, 19, and 22 mm mounting diameters. The new MSM30 offers the same robust characteristics as its smaller counterparts, only it has a larger, ergonomically designed, actuating area for superb tactile feel. Actuation force is 4.5 Newtons, and contact travel is only 1 millimeter with a fixed stop accompanied by a pleasant audible click. The MSM series provides maximum switching power over a voltage range of 5 V DC to 250 V AC and a current range of 0.1 – 10 amps. Switching action is single-pole, momentary with N.O. and N.C. contacts available.

Built for tough environments, the MSM carries a water-resistant rating of IP 67, making it ideal for use outdoors, or in equipment exposed to the liquid spills, drips, leaks or wash-downs. A shock resistant rating of IK 07 makes it ideal for use in environments where the switch can be subject to heavy use or impact. The switch can also operate under varying temperature conditions as low as -25 and as high as 85 C. A flat front construction of only 1.7 millimeters provides a nearly flush mounting to the panel surface, which makes it less conspicuous and therefore less likely to be knocked or battered from the side.

These new MSM30 is ideal for systems where a large actuating area is required for operation, such as information, security and vending systems. Wiring is via quick connect terminals.  Assembly includes pre-wiring of the contact module, which is then snapped onto the actuator housing.  Point and ring illuminated versions of the MSM are available for applications where optical status indications are desired, such as dark conditions or disability access systems.

SCHURTER Appliance Coupler Type IEC 60320-2-2 Typ J resp. L for Rated Currents up to 20A, in Screw or Snap-In Version for High Current Applications

Schurter Logo.jpg

The new series 4797 completes the SCHURTER range of appliance couplers for up to 21 A with a unique variety of versions. The product 4797 consists of two versions for screw or snap-in mounting. The snap-in version was developed in response to customer demand for easier mounting and smaller fit over the screw type, which is especially important for gang mounting. It is available for panel thicknesses ranging from 0.8 up to 3.0 mm. Connection are made with quick connect terminals 6.3 x 0.8 mm, or solder tabs. The body is made from flame resistant thermoplastic UL94-V0 and the copper alloy connector tabs are lead free plated.

The appliance coupler is offered standard as type J according IEC 60320 –2-2 for protection class I applications (L/ N/ PE). A version protection class 2 version with connector type J (L/ N) is available on request. The products are approved for 16A 250 VAC @ 50/60 Hz according ENEC and for 20A 125/250 VAC @ 50/60 Hz according to cURus (USA & Canada). The 4797 outlets are suitable for use in applications according to IEC/EN 60950, providing a convenient solution for distributing power from racks to multiple pieces of equipment. They are also suited for use in outlet strips used for power distribution in household, offices and industrial environments. TYPE 4797.pdf

EMC Easy – Schurter's New Short-Form Catalogue

Schurter Logo.jpg

For the first time Schurter’s entire range of EMC solutions is available in a single reference; the new EMC short-form catalogue. Buyers can now easily select from possibly the most comprehensive EMC component range available from one manufacturer, encompassing Schurter’s IEC connector ‘power entry modules’, block filters, chokes, pulse transformers and power stage driver modules.

The simple selector chart structure of the EMC short-form catalogue allows for comparison of the components attributes and specifications. Additional information on all of the Schurter range is available on http://www.schurter.com/, which, in keeping with Schurter’s open information policy contains approvals, lead-free roadmaps, CAD models, drawings, distributors links, and stock-checks, to ensure designing in Schurter is designing in simplicity.

The Power entry modules section of the catalogue contains interconnected multi-functional IEC connector components with fuse holders, voltage selectors and line filters. A separate section presents line filters for 1 and 3-phase systems, and is supported by extensive general information about line filter design and selection.

Linear, magnetically compensated, saturating and ground-wire chokes find their use in power electronics (frequency converters, stepper motor drives, ups-systems, power supplies etc.). They are within the range of 0.4 up to 50A and have an inductance range of 0.1 up to 60mH.

The pulse transformers section has been specially developed for the control of semiconductor devices in power electronics. Application possibilities include triggering Thyristors, Triacs, power transistors and IGBTs. The Power Stage Driver Module has been developed for driving power IGBT or MOSFET transistors in a safe, reliable and easy way.
