Johnson Electric Offers Linear AC Solenoids

Laminated AC Linear Solenoids from Johnson Electric have a T-shaped laminated designed plunger and laminated steel frame. This platform has the unique ability to hold an exceptionally heavy load with quiet operation. To minimize the humming or chattering of most AC solenoids, the contact surfaces of the laminated frame and plunger are machined to provide a smooth and flush contact surface.

Johnson Electric Offers Open Frame Linear DC Solenoids

Johnson Electric’s linear open frame solenoid technology consists of an open iron frame, an overmolded or taped coil, and a movable plunger in the center of the coil. This platform is available in AC and DC versions and in two frame styles, the C Frame style, in which the coil is enclosed on side, and the Box Frame style in which the coil in enclosed on two sides. The Box Frame style provides slightly higher force output and higher resistance to environmental conditions. Open Frame Solenoid technology offers an economical design for high volume applications, continuous or intermittent duty, and on/off operation common in applications such as vending machines and automated door locks. This technology offers life up to 5 million cycles and a variety of size, force and stroke options. Custom designs can significantly increase life performance.

Johnson Electric’s SoftShift linear solenoids provide slow, smooth position control or high speed snap action operation. SoftShift solenoids have a unique construction which allows easy transition from snap action to variable positioning. Johnson Electric Offers Ultimag Rotary DC Solenoids

Johnson Electric’s Ultimag® rotary actuator technology offers a bidirectional, center return function not found in traditional rotary solenoids. The Ultimag platform is substantially faster than other solenoids, and can be operated in an on/off mode or proportionally, in both open and closed loop systems. Ultimag actuators offer a 45° stroke; however, the design is capable of a maximum stroke of 160°. For shorter strokes, electronic or mechanical stops can be used. This technology is ideal for applications requiring high speed and high torque motion control often found in industrial, business technology and medical applications.

Johnson Electric Offers BTA Rotary DC Solenoids

Johnson Electric’s BTA actuator platform offers high speed controllability in rotary stroke applications. The BTA has a single phase coil with three stator poles and matching rotor pole. When the coil is energized, the poles align along the flux path. The three pole design allows a stroke of up to 45°. Since BTA technology does not require full stroke actuation, stops can be used to attain maximum life as well as optimum stroke / torque capacity.

Using simple pulse width modulation to control coil current, the BTA allows open or closed loop velocity and maximum position control. The BTA platform offers quiet operation due to the soft, shock-free cycling which eliminates the noise associated with end-of stroke mechanical stops. Very quiet operation, long life in excess of 100 million actuations and high power density make the BTA product family ideal for high speed, high throughput diverting and sorting applications that require low noise and zero downtime.

Johnson Electric Launches Tipmatic Auto Power-Off Switches for Coffee Machines

Zero Stand-by Power for Energy Savings

Johnson Electric today announced an extension to the TIPPMATIC® switch product line.  Three TIPPMATIC switches have been custom designed for use in all types of coffee machines.  The new TIPPMATIC pushbutton switches are configured with features for use in filter, capsule, espresso and fully automatic coffee machines. These pushbutton switches are compact and can be customized to match the human factors and design requirements of the coffee machine. 

In addition to the automatic power-off feature, the TIPPMATIC switch is available with a double disconnect feature which reduces the stand-by current of the coffee machine to zero.  This disconnect feature also further improves the safety characteristics of the machine. The TIPPMATIC pushbutton switches for coffee machines expand the existing rocker switch product line.

* TIPPMATIC Timer with an internal timer is designed for filter coffee. The switch can be configured for a wide range of automatic power-off times.
* TIPPMATIC iF has an interface for an externally provided shut-off signal, generated by the electronics in fully automatic coffee machines.
* TIPPMATIC iFD features a double disconnect technology with an integrated interface for an externally provided shut-off signal, generated by the electronics in fully automatic coffee machines.

“The cumulative impact of reducing stand-by power to zero is highly significant,” said Jim Dick, Johnson Electric’s senior vice president of Strategic Marketing. “Consumer peace of mind results by knowing that an appliance will automatically be switched-off in their absence,” he added.
