Devices Provide Enhanced Performance, Accuracy, and Sensitivity While Lowering Integration Costs

Honeywell has expanded its industry-leading ASDX Series silicon pressure sensor portfolio with ultra-low pressure ranges that include 0 to 10 inches of H2O gage, ± 10 inches of H2O differential, and ± 5 inches of H2O differential. These sensors include additional signal conditioning integrated within the product, allowing customers to remove components associated with signal conditioning from their PC board to free space and reduce costs normally associated with those components.

ASDXO

The Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC)-based design provides a fast, highly accurate, amplified, conditioned pressure reading. Ratiometric 12-bit analog output for reading pressure over the specified full scale pressure span and temperature range allows for fast and easy integration into standard electronic circuits, and 12-bit I2C or SPI digital interface for reading pressure over the specified full scale pressure span and temperature
range minimizes connections and provides higher resolution and faster performance through reduced conversion requirements and the convenience of direct interface to the microprocessors and microcontrollers.

The ASDX Series achieve a tight total error band of ± 2.0% of full scale span maximum, providing enhanced sensitivity and accuracy even at ultra-low pressure ranges. Custom calibration ranges (inches H2O, psi, mbar, bar, kPa), supply voltage of 3.3 Vdc or 5.0 Vdc, and absolute, differential, and gage pressure types expand application opportunities.

These ultra-low pressure sensors are intended for use with non-corrosive, non-ionic working fluids, such as air and dry gases. The ASDX Series pressure sensors are fully calibrated and temperature compensated for sensor offset, sensitivity, temperature effects, and non-linearity. Calibrated output values for pressure are updated at approximately 1 kHz.

The ASDX Series silicon pressure sensors may potentially be used in industrial and medical applications including barometry, flow calibrators, gas-flow instrumentation, sleep apnea/therapy equipment, pneumatic controls, and ventilation/airflow monitors.

Pressure Ranges from 1 to 5 psi, On-Board Signal Conditioning, Custom Calibration,
and Digital Output Options Provide Support for Many Unique Applications

Honeywell has expanded its industry-leading ASDX plastic silicon pressure sensor family with the new ASDX Series and ASDX-DO Series, which offer pressure ranges from 1 psi to 5 psi and on-board signal conditioning.

The on-board signal conditioning allows the customer to remove those components from their PC board to free space, may reduce their acquisition, inventory, and assembly costs, and minimize potential problems from having multiple signal conditioning
components spread across a circuit board.

These low-pressure sensors are intended for use with non-corrosive, non-ionic working fluids, such as air and dry gases. Potential industrial and medical applications include barometry, flow calibrators, gas-flow instrumentation, sleep apnea/therapy equipment, pneumatic controls, and ventilation/airflow monitors.

The ASDX and ASDX-DO Series pressure sensors are fully calibrated and temperature compensated for sensor offset, sensitivity, temperature effects, and non-linearity using an on-board Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). Calibrated output values for pressure are updated at approximately 1 kHz.

The ASDX Series with compensated analog output provides a ratiometric 12 bit analog output for reading pressure over the specified full scale pressure span and temperature range, typically allowing for fast and easy integration into standard electronic circuits. The ASDXDO Series with compensated 14 bit digital output provides either an I2C or SPI digital interface for reading pressure over the specified full scale pressure span and temperature range, minimizing connections, providing higher resolution, and faster performance through reduced conversion requirements and the convenience of direct interface to the microprocessors or microcontrollers.

Aerospace-Rated Switch Offers Rapid Customization
Options for Precise, Demanding Applications

Honeywell MICRO SWITCH™ introduced it’s 1HP Series pressure switch. The 1HP Series is an easily configurable pressure switch that can be rapidly customized to the precise, demanding requirements of aerospace and military applications. Offering the industry’s broadest pressure range (150 psi – 5000 psi) and a wide selection of fittings, electrical connectors, pressure set points and differentials, the 1HP series also enhances accuracy, containing a MICRO SWITCH™ subminiature switch in a design that delivers higher set-point precision and improves performance over temperature. The standard product is easily configurable which enables faster prototyping, development, and delivery lead-times than other commercially available switches.

The lightweight, compact pressure switch is used to monitor and react to gas or liquid pressure in aerospace or military systems. Potential aerospace applications include indication of loss of pressure, validation of system pressure, and automatic shut off of electrical equipment. Potential military applications include monitoring hydraulic pressure and fire suppression on ground vehicles.

Honeywell’s MICRO SWITCH™ 1HP Series pressure switches are DO-160 and US military specification approved. This expansion of MICRO SWITCH™ products strengthens Honeywell’s position as a leader in electromechanical switching for aerospace and military applications.

Honeywell’s 1000 Series Pressure Switch Meets Tough Specifications in Harsh Environments

Small, Tough Switch for Hydraulic Brake Systems
in Harsh Environments

Honeywell introduces the Series 1000 pressure switch for potential hydraulic brake pressure applications. Honeywell’s Series 1000 switch excels in brake systems used in many harsh environments such as extreme weather conditions or particle-filled areas due to its IP65 sealing and high burst rating. With its high resistance to shock and vibration, this pressure switch is designed to withstand pressure spikes in critical systems.

Series_1000.jpg

Honeywell Sensing and Control has utilized our engineering expertise to reduce part count on this product by approximately 75%. With fewer parts, the switch’s cost and complexity are optimized. The new design may contribute to lowering installation time by minimizing the time required for adjustments and potentially the need for field maintenance. The result is reduced field failures, even in the most demanding environments. Custom versions of this product have been in operation for over 2 years in 20,000 ATVs with no known field failures reported.

With its small size and superior sealing, the Series 1000 pressure switch may be used to actuate brake lights in brake systems for small vehicles used in many harsh environments.  Typical vehicles include ATVs, snow, and sport vehicles as well as smaller motorcycles and scooters. The switch may also be used in applications where high operating pressure and low set point are required. Other potential applications may include hydraulic brake systems in small vehicles, compact agriculture tractors, utility vehicles (UTVs), trucks, lift trucks, and other small self-propelled vehicles.
