International Standards: UL 508, NEC Class2, EN 60204-1
Besides the UL508 approval and NEC Class2, the REX12 exclusively meets the requirements of cable protection to EN60204-1. This is possible because the internal fail-safe element in the shape of a blade fuse corresponds to the current rating of the circuit protector in question. Concretely, this means that the current rating of the protector and the rating of the fail-safe element are identical.

PS product range offers varied applications thanks to modular design

The Schmersal Group launches a new generation of position switches. The benefits for the user: The new PS product range offers varied applications, as all the position switches can be used both as complete devices and as modular units.

Type 1 position switches in line with ISO 14119 are for the position detection and monitoring of moving parts on machinery and plants as well as for lateral or pivotable protection equipment. The new range is suitable for a wide range of applications across all individual disciplines of machine and plant engineering - both for automation and safety applications and for lift engineering. The protection types IP66 or IP67 create the prerequisites for using the position switch in unfavourable environmental conditions.

Fewer variants - more flexibility

The modular design of the PS range with consistent components across all models reduces the number of variants, reduces storage costs and increases availability. All the position switches in the PS116, PS2xx and PS3xx ranges available within the modular system can be chosen both as complete switches with actuating element or as basic switches. Depending on the application, the basic switches can be combined with the necessary actuating element, which can be selected from a range of possible versions. This achieves the greatest possible flexibility in application and at the same time reduces the number of different switches available.

All actuating elements can be rotated in 45° increments, allowing adjustment to the defined direction of motion at any time. The connection terminals are also rotated around 45°, which makes connection easier and significantly reduces installation times. Switching elements with up to three contacts guarantee a redundant shutdown with an additional signal contact.

In practice, it is quite possible that the attenuation is not yet sufficient despite the use of a filter. In such cases, several filter stages optimized for the specific interference signals are then connected in series. New rectangular semi-enclosed PCB fuse holders are now available from Hylec-APL, the specialist supplier of electrical components and enclosures. Manufactured from flame-retardant UL94 V0 Polyamide in accordance with IEC 127-6, these fuse holders are a high quality, competitively priced product which comply with multiple approval standards, including the latest EN Glow Wire Test standards at 850degC. The fuse carriers and retainers are finger proof to avoid damage to the fuse during placement on the PCB. Enclosed contacts are a further feature of the new rectangular fuse holders, again safeguarding them from damage during assembly.

Designed for PCB mounting on a 22.6mm pin pitch, with a PCB hole size of 1.5mm, the DFH14N fuse holder (including spigot) and the DFH14HBN fuse carrier are rated to 6.3A/250V. Contact material is tinned nickel plated brass and contact resistance is <5mΩ. Power dissipation is 2.5W and dielectric strength 3KV/60°. Insulation resistance of the DFH14N fuse holder (including spigot) and the DFH14HBN fuse carrier is 100mΩ.

The rectangular fuse carrier and retainers are available in black and green. Hylec also manufactures a very wide range of PCB terminal blocks in various colours, including black, green and orange.

Johnson Electric’s linear open frame solenoid technology consists of an open iron frame, an overmolded or taped coil, and a movable plunger in the center of the coil. This platform is available in AC and DC versions and in two frame styles, the C Frame style, in which the coil is enclosed on side, and the Box Frame style in which the coil in enclosed on two sides. The Box Frame style provides slightly higher force output and higher resistance to environmental conditions. Open Frame Solenoid technology offers an economical design for high volume applications, continuous or intermittent duty, and on/off operation common in applications such as vending machines and automated door locks.
