FMAD CP is the name of the latest 1-stage filter family for 3-phase systems with neutral conductor. Thanks to their extremely compact dimensions and high performance, the new filters are ideally suited to the tight space conditions in today’s machine and equipment construction. An extended temperature range means that they can also be used in critical applications.

The new filter family is ideally suited for devices with high EMC exposure at low or medium power. Typical applications include converters for photovoltaics, battery storage or charging stations for electric vehicles. These powerful, particularly compact filters are also the first choice for modern frequency inverters for motor control.

Mounting
The FMAD CP filter series has 6.3 x 0.8 mm plug-in connectors for quick and easy wiring. Thanks to a metal flange, a good earth connection is guaranteed when screwed to the chassis.

Wide Temperature Range
The standard versions can be used over a temperature range of -40 °C to 100 °C. The filters are designed for currents from 3 A to 20 A at an ambient temperature of 50 °C. They have ENEC and cURus approval and are recommended for applications up to max. 520 VAC.

Leakage Current
Versions with different leakage currents are available for various applications: for industrial ≤ 3 mA, standard ≤ 0.5 mA and for medical technology ≤ 5 µA.

“High Performance” Version
Although the new filter family is already equipped with very high-quality components, an even stronger filter effect might be required for particularly demanding applications. This is where the “High Performance” versions come into play. Thanks to compact chokes with particularly high inductance and a larger X capacitor, both symmetrical and asymmetrical interference can be suppressed even more effectively.

The completely newly developed FMAD CP filters are the ideal replacement for the SCHURTER FMW465, offering at least the same, but rather higher performance at lower weight.

FMAD NEO is the name of the latest single-stage filter family for 3-phase systems with a neutral line. Especially compact with high performance, the new filter series is ideally suited for use in today’s more portable industrial machines, designed to occupy less floor space in manufacturing plants. A wide temperature range extends its capabilities for use in many critical applications.

Three-phase control cabinets almost always have severe space constraints. Schurter addresses this problem with a completely new filter design, which is much more compact than older generations. The new, almost cubed, design makes optimum use of available space in the cabinet housing. Designed with the highest quality components, the filter attenuation remains very high relative to its more compact dimensions.

The new filter family is also suitable for devices with high EMC loads. Typical areas of application include converters for photovoltaic systems, battery storage units or charging stations for electric vehicles. These high-performance filters are also the first choice for modern frequency inverters for motor control.

The FMAD NEO filter series has screw terminals for safe and reliable wire terminations. A full metal flange guarantees a good earth ground connection upon screw mounting to the chassis. Six fixing holes are provided for the mounting itself, which allows both symmetrical and asymmetrical mounting.

The standard versions can be used over a wide temperature range from -40 °C to 100 °C. The filters are designed for currents from 16 A to 230 A at an ambient temperature of 50 °C. They are ENEC and cURus approved and recommended for applications up to 520 VAC. The standard versions are designed for industrial applications with leakage currents <13 mA. Special versions for leakage-critical applications of <3 mA are also available.

The completely redesigned models of the FMAD NEO family supplant SCHURTER FMAD filters. They offer at least identical performance with significantly smaller dimensions and weight, moreover the series is an ideal substitution for like competitor products.

The high-performance filter series FN 9262 (with fuse holder) and FN 9266 (with dual pole switch), are developed for applications demanding high attenuation performance. These represent an enhanced version of the already market proven FN 9260 and FN 9264 filter families. One of the key applications for this filter is the medical market; the filter carries additional approvals, making it easier for the end user to implement into their design. FN 9262 B and FN 9266 B (B-types) filters meet the insulation requirements according to IEC 60601-1 1MOPP (1 means of patient protection).

Both filter series outperform the already existing filters FN 9260 and FN 9264 over the whole frequency range. This increased performance lies in two key components: the advanced core material (common mode performance) and the increased X-capacitor values (differential mode performance).

The housing dimensions are identical to the existing series making an exchange between the filters easy. In addition, the PEMs (Power Entry Modules) are mechanically compatible with almost all similar style products in the market and the same as in FN 9260 and FN 9264.

With the new variant diversity (FN 9260/2/4/6) and the present attenuation properties, this filter family offers a solution for medical devices, modern appliances for household, audio and video. They can also be used in several other applications with similar requirements.

The filters have all the required safety approvals (UL 60939-3, CSA C22.2 No. 8, IEC 60939-3 and CQC), they carry a CE mark and are compatible with the RoHS II (2015/863) directive.

SCHURTER FMAB HV Compact 1-Phase Filter for AC and DC Applications

SCHURTER extends its successful family of chassis mounted filters for 1-phase systems, FMAB NEO with the new series FMAB HV. It is suitable for applications up to 277 VAC as well as 400 VDC. In North America, there are various 1-phase applications in the 3-phase 480/277 VAC network. 400 VDC is often used in modern data centers with DC power supply. The single-stage filter series combines a compact design with a high level of performance.

With 277 VAC and 400 VDC approval, the new FMAB HV filter family offers the greatest possible flexibility for various applications. Today, more and more mixed AC and DC power supplies are used for better energy efficiency and/or improved reliability. In these applications, the filter can be used on both the AC and DC sides.

The new filter series has a shiny steel housing with a closed filter base. This effectively shields the filter, no matter how it is mounted. The filter series is particularly suitable for devices with high symmetrical interferences, such as devices with semiconductors, which regulate high outputs (e.g. commercial coffee machines, hot water dispensing machines, and all types of industrial electronics). Due to their compact design, the filters are also ideally suited for medical and household appliances.

The filters are available with quick connect terminals 6.3 x 0.8mm. They have a metal flange for easy mounting on the chassis. The entire filter family can be used over a temperature range from -40 °C to 100 °C.

The series is designed for currents from 1 A to 20 A at 277 VAC / 277 VDC according to IEC standard and 277 VAC and 400 VDC according to UL/CSA standard. It has ENEC and cURus approval and is suitable for applications according to IEC 60950. For medical devices according to IEC/UL 60601-1, variants with low leakage currents <80 μA (M80) or without leakage current <5 μA (M5) are available.
Versions with built-in varistors for effective overvoltage protection are available on request.

Schurter DKIH-EVB Evaluation Boards for Current-Compensated High-Current Chokes

Schurter is now offering proven test circuit boards for the DKIH-1 and DKIH-3 high-current chokes. With these, an EMI filter circuit for 1- or 3-phase systems can be set up and tested easily and quickly in an iterative process without having to make any adjustments to the layout of your own PCB.

Every developer of an electrical or electronic device is faced with the same problem: In the end, the device must comply with international EMC guidelines regarding emission and immission. Problems, often of an unpredictable nature, mostly arise in the power section. Like most electronic assemblies, the power section is increasingly being mounted on printed circuit boards using discrete components. A compact filter directly on the printed circuit board with discrete components is therefore usually the best solution. And a current-compensated choke with capacitors is the most efficient measure for EMC suppression.

DKIH-EVB
With the new SCHURTER DKIH-EVB (Evaluation Board) test circuit boards, a wide variety of filter configurations can be quickly calibrated with the DKIH series of current-compensated chokes without making any changes to an existing PCB layout. With high L and C values, the vast majority of disturbances can be adequately attenuated. The art of filter design, however, lies in finding an effective and at the same time cost-optimized combination of components. Often, slightly smaller L and C values are sufficient if these are perfectly combined. An EMC measurement of the finished system or device is indispensable for the declaration of conformity.

With the DG12, Schurter launches its most versatile power entry module with IEC inlet, integrated circuit breaker and a mains filter – with optional IP protection. Thanks to its extremely compact dimensions and a wide range of mounting options, it consolidates discrete power components into one space-saving unit suitable for a variety of applications.

The new DG12 filter series from SCHURTER combines an IEC inlet with a TA35 miniature circuit breaker and a mains filter – with optional IP protection. The DG12 is available for almost any mounting variant with snap or screw mounting. In addition, the flange mount version is available in either vertical or horizontal arrangement.

 

Thermal Circuit Breaker
The DG12 has an integrated TA35 bi-pole circuit breaker. It offers the function of a device switch as well as thermal overcurrent protection. The overcurrent protection is available with a bi-metal switching package on one or two poles and with rated currents from 0.05 A to 15 A. The rocker switch is available illuminated or non-illuminated, as well as in a variety of colours and markings.

IP Protection
In addition to the standard versions with IP40 protection, the DG12 is available in a version with IP67 seal protection to the panel and circuit breaker. The use of the DG12 in harsh environments with dust or splashing water is ensured with a cover for the circuit breaker, as well as sealing gasket and four sealing screws for fastening the flange.

Wide Range of Applications
The DG12 series is certified for currents up to 10 A/250 VAC according to IEC standard and 15 A/125/250 VAC UL/CSA standard. The filter series is available in standard or medical versions and for protection class I and II. For applications that require a particularly high immunity to interference, versions with high inductance filters are available. Such applications for example are IT or telecom systems according to IEC 90650, and medical devices according to IEC 60601-1. The series is compatible with V-Lock cord retention connection cables.

Schurter’s New Design of Filter Series FMBB NEO

The successful 1 phase filter series FMBB NEO has been redesigned. The new shiny filter housing is made of nickel plated steel and complete enclosed.
