HG1171 Series Enhances Safety, Stability, Productivity, and
Operational Capabilities of Heavy-Duty Vehicle Equipment

Honeywell introduced its HG1171 Series 6DF IMU sensor which is designed to provide key data for automated steering, stability, and vehicle controls in a variety of potential agricultural, construction, and material handling equipment applications.

HG1171.jpg

The HG1171 Series uses MEMS (Micro Electromechanical Sensors) technology already widely used in aerospace applications for navigation and control, where our customer needs to have enhanced performance in sensing rotation rate and acceleration. The HG1171 Series features enhanced fault monitoring and reporting to verify correct operation, a capability available on Honeywell products.

Integration of the microcontroller, sensors, and communication interfaces on the HG1171 Series allows for software customization, which can save development time and money. The HG1171 Series sensors feature a high-speed CAN bus, enhanced temperature performance, low noise, and high resolution, packaged in a tough metal housing designed for most harsh environments.

HONEYWELL INTRODUCES LIMIT SWITCH ADAPTER FOR DEUTSCH DT4 CONNECTORS

September 29, 2008

Logo.jpg

Patent-Pending Design Allows for True Plug-and-Play Installation

Honeywell introduced an adapter for limit switches with 20mm thread conduit openings. When purchased as a pre-installed accessory on a Honeywell MICRO SWITCH limit switch, this patent-pending adapter is ready to mount and plug into a Deutsch DT4 mating connector.

Adapter.jpg

Typical installation time for limit switches includes as much as three minutes to wire a standard-type switch. The plug-and-play adapter may realize cost savings in reducing installation time, minimizing down time for switch replacement, or by eliminating additional parts normally associated with the assembly of a pigtail connector.

The accessory also is available as an adapter kit containing individual parts ready for assembly or as an adapter assembly pre-wired with four lead wires. Both options may provide cost savings over standard installation. Potential applications include aerial/scissor lifts and cable-to-cable applications in off-road, agricultural and construction equipment.

Honeywell Introduces Micro Switch™ GSX Series Explosion-Proof Safety Switch

September 9, 2008

Logo.jpg

Positive Break Enhances Safety in Hazardous Environments

Honeywell introduces its MICRO SWITCH™ GSX Series Explosion-Proof Safety Switch. The GSX Series combines world-class MICRO SWITCH™ global limit safety product (GSS) with an explosion-proof housing from Honeywell’s LSX and BX product lines. The GSX Series Safety Switch platform provides over 10,000 actuator and switching option combinations and can be applied to machine safety in hydrocarbon refining, chemical process, grain elevators, other agricultural or food processing equipment.

GSX Series.jpg

The GSX switch can be applied to a gate, cage or access panel that is positioned as hard guarding to a dangerous machine so that, when opened, the machine stops. Explosion-proof safety switches are required on machinery found in hazardous locations, where hazardous gasses or dusts could cause an explosion. The positive break mechanism will ensure that even welded contacts will open and the machine will stop in an emergency. The positive break feature is designed to provide a safe failure mode, ensuring the machine will not start, and therefore supporting a safer working environment.

Honeywell Introduces R300 Series Temperature Sensor

September 3, 2008

Logo.jpg

Enhanced Accuracy and Reliability in Harsh High-Temperature
Environments

Honeywell introduced its R300 Series Temperature Sensor for use in potential EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) applications where operating temperatures can reach 300 °C [572 °F]. The R300 Series Temperature Sensor features enhanced reliability, accuracy and responsiveness which helps optimize fuel economy and engine performance.

R300.jpg

The purpose of an EGR system on an engine is to reduce NOx (nitrous oxide and nitrous dioxide) emissions by cooling and recirculating exhaust gas back into the engine. The R300 helps the EGR system optimize those NOx emission controls.

The R300 Series uses RTD (resistance temperature detector) technology and features a robust, stainless steel closed-tip design to enhance reliability in aggressive environments. It provides an excellent response time as demonstrated by validation testing required by the transportation industry. The R300 also features an integral connector.

The R300 Series Temperature Sensor expands Honeywell’s existing temperature probe product portfolio designed for the transportation industry, namely the ES110-, ES115- and ES120-Series. The R300 Series is designed for potential use in heavy duty vehicle engine (oil, coolant, fuel and air inlet temperature sensing) applications.

Honeywell Receives IECEx Approval for Micro Switch™ BX Product Family

July 31, 2008

Explosion-proof switches help customers meet increasing safety, regulatory requirements anywhere in the world.

Logo.jpg

Honeywell announced it has received Electrotechnical Commission (IECEx) approval for its MICRO SWITCH™ BX explosionproof switch products. With IECEx approvals, manufacturers can specify one Honeywell MICRO SWITCH™ BX-series switch for a machine that will potentially be used in Europe, Asia or North America.

IECEx is the Commission’s certification of explosive atmospheres, and incorporates all existing approvals. Current North American UL/CSA and European ATEX approvals are being superseded by IECEx recognition. Honeywell’s explosion-proof switch family obtained certification from the official global regulatory agency.

 BX_group_45222QR5.jpg

"The global nature of approvals is critical to pull together many countries’ and territories’ regulatory requirements,” said Leslie Neill, global product marketing manager for Honeywell explosion-proof and safety switches.

“This allows our customers to apply our products almost anywhere in the world and meet ever-increasing levels of safety regulations. Honeywell offers a wide range of differentiated solutions to meet virtually any application requirement,” explained Brad Kautzer, vice president and general manager of electromechanical line of business for Honeywell Sensing and Control.

By obtaining the newest global standard for safety, Honeywell customers around the world can be assured their explosion-proof switches may meet all local safety regulations.  Honeywell BX Series explosion-proof limit switches are rugged products used in hazardouslocations, such as control valves in petrochemical, waste handling or food processing plants.  Honeywell MICRO SWITCH™ explosion-proof limit switches may be most appropriate for use in dangerous environments where contamination or long distances may render other sensing technologies ineffective.

Honeywell GKME Series Extends Safety Switch Series, Helps Reduce Wiring and Installation Time

July 22, 2008

 Logo.jpg

GKME Dual-Connection Series Enhances Safety, Productivity with Daisy-Chain Capabilities

Honeywell introduces the MICRO SWITCH GKME-series Dual Connection Safety Switch. This product line extension of the GKM series includes two pre-assembled connectors allowing for daisychain connection from switch to switch. The ease of installing GKME switches may reduce wiring time up to fifty percent, resulting in significant savings for the customer.

GKME.jpg

The GKME is designed to enhance machine safety – the removal of any switch indicates that a door is open and breaks the electrical safety chain. The design facilitates planned and unplanned maintenance by allowing modules of the machine to be easily removed and replaced, followed by plug and play of the safety switch.

Potential applications include packaging and assembly equipment; textile and printing machinery.
