Schurter T9 Now Available for PCB Mounting

March 31, 2014

Schurter Logo1.jpg

Schurter's T9 fuseholder style circuit breaker series is now expanded to include model T9-818 for PCB mounting. The new model complements the existing T9 series assortment for panel mounting, providing a complete range of mounting styles equivalent to closed fuseholders

The T9 series circuit breaker with the Model T9-818 for PCB mounting fills a gap in the market. The T9 series feature dimensions comparable to those of traditional fuseholders, and is likewise similarly designed for direct placement on circuit boards. SCHURTER’s existing T9 series features quick-connect
terminal types for front and rear snap in panel mounting, as well as thread neck mounting.

As with all PCB mounted components, assembly costs are considerably lower because fewer materials are used and wires are eliminated to fully automate assembly. In addition, the T9-818 is more compact than quick-connect terminal types and thus requires less space. Furthermore, its slim design means the
reset button protrudes only minimally from the front panel. Two mounting pins provide additional mechanical support on the circuit board and protect the solder connections from additional pressure when the reset button is activated.

The shape of the T9 circuit breaker is very similar to that of a fuseholder and thus offers an excellent alternative to 5x20 fuses and their respective fuseholders, where current surges can lead to premature tripping and aging over time. In contrast, circuit breakers prevent unnecessary down time by eliminating the need for changing fuses, as well as the associated risk of inadvertently inserting a fuse with the incorrect current rating, which may lead to equipment damage.

A further advantage of circuit breakers is the reset button, which springs out to indicate when the device trips. Reset is achieved by a simple push
of the button. Typical application areas for circuit breakers include use in power supplies, UPS systems, PDUs, electric tools, industrial applications, medical diagnostic equipment, analysis systems, lighting fixtures, HVAC products as well as equipment for sports and leisure activities. The T9 product line conforms to these standards: UL 1077, CSA C22.2 235 and IEC 60934.

Schurter Expands the Successful UMT-H Series of SMD Fuses

March 13, 2014

Schurter Logo1.jpg

Schurter is expanding the successful UMT-H series of SMD fuses with 13 additional rated currents. The expanded series – which covers rated currents between 160 mA and 10 A – will now protect an even broader range of applications. With a rated breaking capacity of 1500 A, this compact SMD fuse is capable of protecting against short circuits, while providing reliable overcurrent protection.

Schurter now offers the UMT-H in a total of 19 rated currents between 160 mA and 10 A at voltages up to 277 VAC and 250 VDC. The compact SMD fuse stands out with its high breaking capacity of 1500 A at rated voltage. This key feature, among others, makes the square UMT-H a space saving alternative to classic cylindrically shaped cartridge fuses (e.g. 5x20 mm).

Besides a wide range of applications in power circuits and sensors, the UMT-H is particularly well suited for the primary protection of power supply units rated up to 277 VAC. It is also suitable for use in the protection of single phase industrial appliances. Finder Presents Its New Thermostat, Type 1C.61

March 12, 2014

Finder.jpg

Finder's new thermostat, the type 1C.61, with adjustment sliders designed to respond to the need for practicality, simplicity and comfort in the control of room temperature.

Uniquely innovative, the 1C.61 is the first “touch slide” capable of combining the simplicity of a touch screen display with exclusive “guided programming”, with the ease of adjustment of the 24 linear sliders for temperature setting.

The size and design make it unique at only 17mm thick and it is finished in an attractive white cream and grey. The cover, with spring assisted opening and closing, offers protection to the sliders from dust and gives continuity to the aesthetic curves.

The backlit display features large font size and “Dynamic” icons, offering excellent legibility. However, despite the large display and backlight, the advanced electronics of the new 1C.61 cleverly limits the power consumption, extending battery life up to 2 years.

Simple but fully featured: The 1C.61 fully justifies this slogan, since by entering the “setup” an extensive range of advanced features and functionality can be programmed.
For example, you can set the time of day to the nearest 15 minutes; the “day” function allows you to program any 1 of 3 modes (Off, Manual, Sliders) for each day of the week.
It is possible to make the display show the temperature of an (optional) external sensor, or even make it the main controlling sensor.

Innovative functions can be “set” to fully block changes to the thermostat (under PIN control), protecting all parameters entered including the settings of the sliders. Alternatively, a simple lock against the effect of accidental or malicious touching of the display buttons can be selected. The possibility of calibration to align the display to the perceived temperature is also an option.
A remote contact can be employed to alter the operation of the thermostat by forcing the output switch off manually or allowing it to follow the normal program. In case of difficulty the Reset function will restore all the factory settings, returning the product to “as purchased” state.
Finally, the manual timer (or vacation) setting has been simplified by adopting the concept of a “calendar”, whereby setting the time and date of the return from holiday ensures the thermostat will automatically return to the conditions of automatic programmed temperature control.
