Bulgin’s Buccaneer® Connectors Now Rated to IP69K

April 26, 2013

The popular Buccaneer range of advanced waterproof power and data connectors from Bulgin – an Elektron Technology connectivity brand – has been independently rated to IP69K – DIN 40050-9, further extending the potential applications of this robust circular connector range.

The increasing demand for connectivity in networked industrial applications means that environmentally sealed connections are required to provide safe and secure data and power transfer in evermore harsh or hostile conditions. The IP69K rating is designed to meet the needs of high pressure, high temperature wash-down applications. The rigorous dust and liquid protection this rating ensures is now benefitting a wide range of markets, including marine, food processing, pharmaceutical manufacture and waste treatment. Bulgin’s popular range of Buccaneer connectors – including the 900 Series Buccaneer, Standard Buccaneer, Ethernet Buccaneer, USB Buccaneer and Mini USB Buccaneer – have now been independently tested to meet this demanding standard.

This additional rating highlights the high quality and exceptional value of the Buccaneer range, providing engineers with guaranteed performance and greater design confidence for virtually any application.

Finder Adds 3 New Application-Specific Movement Detectors to its 18 Series Range

April 24, 2013

Finder.jpg
Based on new innovative electronics and optics Finder has added 3 new application-specific movement detectors to its 18 Series range.

Specifically for sensing within larger rectangular areas such as hotel lobbies and long corridors, the 18.41 surveys an area up to 15 metres either side of the device, giving an extensive total detecting zone of 30 metres long by 4 metres wide, from just a single unit.

Central to the 18.51 is an advanced lens and electronics system that achieves two detecting zones with different sensitivities. The central 4 x 4 metre zone responds to very small movements, able for example to pick-up on the presence of a person quietly working at his workplace. But additionally, within an extended 8 x 8 metre zone, it will also respond to normal movements. This product is particularly targeted at offices, schools, and the workplace in general.

“Twin-Mirror” technology gives the 18.61 its exceptionally wide viewing angle of 180°. Specifically designed for fitting into new or existing wall boxes, the 18.61 can be installed in corridors along with the 18.41 but is equally suited to small spaces such as bathrooms or passage areas. Essentially it can be installed as a direct replacement for a wall mounted light switch or push-button.

All three models share the common characteristics of a wide 110 ... 230 V AC power supply range, a 10A rated NO output contact, adjustable ambient light intervention threshold and a Light-Off delay adjustable from 12 to 35 minutes.

Depending on the type, these new products can be installed on the ceiling, in suspended ceilings or in recessed or flush mounting boxes.

Schurter’s 6610 Appliance Outlet Available with IDC Terminals for 14 AWG/1.5 mm Solid Wires

April 3, 2013

Schurter Logo1.jpg

Schurter’s 6610 appliance outlet, which is the first of its kind to utilize IDC technology, is now available with IDC terminals for 14 AWG/1.5 mm2 in addition to the existing version for 12 AWG/2.5 mm2. The new option allows for smaller diameter wire and thus less costly wiring in lighter duty applications.

Series 6610 is ideal for use in power distribution units and other equipment where multiple outlets are banked in series. Unlike traditional outlets, which require wiring of individual quick connect or solder terminals, the 6610 with IDC technology allows wires to be bussed across the terminals, thereby connecting common terminals all at once. The IDC terminals are arranged either along or across the connector pin axis, allowing for a horizontal or vertical mounting orientation. Wires are pressed into place with the protective back cover. Versions with combination IDC and a quick-connect or solder terminal, for separate wiring of the line connection, are also available.

The 6610 outlet is newly offered with the V-Lock notch intended for use with a mating cordset that latches into the outlet to prevent unintentional disconnection from the power. The outlet is F style according to IEC 60320. The snap-in unit fits panels which have a thickness of between 0.8 mm and 3 mm. It is approved by cURus at 15 A at 250 VAC and ENEC at 10 A/250 VAC, and is qualified for applications in accordance with IEC/EN 60950.
