New Schurter DC Filter FMER SOL

August 26, 2010

Schurter Logo1.jpg

Schurter presents its new standard DC filter series FMER SOL suited for use on the DC side of the inverter in photovoltaic systems and other DC systems.

Modern solar inverters, that use MPP (maximum power point) trackers, generate disturbances into both the grid’s AC power line, as well as the DC side of the solar module. An AC filter is normally used on the grid’s AC power line, but the noise generated on the DC side tends to be overlooked.  EMC standards EN 61000-6-3 and EN55014-1, however, also put limits on the noise generated from lines not connected to the grid, such as for example the line to the solar panels. Meeting these limits can be achieved by using a DC filter on the DC side of the inverter.

Large solar inverters installed in electrical installations will generally require a cooling system. Components which provide high temperature resistance simplify the system and reduce the energy needed to cool. The FMER SOL filters are designed for rated currents from 25A to 1500A at 55°C ambient temperature, and voltages up to 1200VDC.  The filters are cURus and ENEC approved up to 75°C ambient temperature, with corresponding reduced rated currents.

The FMER SOL DC filters are designed with screw clamps for types up to 150A and copper bars for types upwards of 250A. Other types of connections, such as wires or copper bars <250A, are available on request.  Small adjustments can also be made to the electrical circuit or to the filter housing on request.

Honeywell Expands The BX Hazardous Area Limit Switch Family To Feature A BX2 Stainless-Steel Switch

August 25, 2010

MICRO SWITCH™ BX2 Series Delivers Corrosion Resistance and Provides Both Cost and Time Savings to the End User

Honeywell’s MICRO SWITCH™ BX Hazardous Area Limit Switch Series now contains the MICRO SWITCH™ BX2 Series, complete with stainless steel, corrosion-resistant housing.

The MICRO SWITCH™ BX2 Series’ stainless steel housing provides enhanced corrosion resistance in applications exposed to aggressive, caustic agents often found in chemical processing plants, off-shore/near-shore sites, and other hazardous areas.

Honeywell Sensing and Control developed the stainless steel BX2 Series in response to significant customer demand. This new series can provide corrosion resistance up to four times longer than standard housing switches. It can also save up to four-weeks of down time when replacing rusty, unsafe switches.

Explosion-proof and weather sealed, MICRO SWITCH™ BX2 Series switches have global ATEX and IEC Ex approvals. These switches can withstand the pressure of an internal explosion and IP67 and NEMA (1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 13) ratings ensure the BX2 can survive in outdoor operations for an extended period of time.

To meet customer requirements for design flexibility, the BX2 Series is available with a broad range of sizes, orientations, actuators, and electrical load options. Potential applications are many, including control valves and actuators, offshore drilling, gas recovery units, petrochemical plants, grain elevators, waste treatment, paint booths, mining conveyors, pulp and paper handling, and hazardous waste handling.

Schurter, Series 5008, Expands It's Family of Power Entry Modules With A New & Compact Filtered Appliance Inlet According IEC, Style C8, Protection Class II.

August 19, 2010

Schurter Logo1.jpg

Schurter series 5008 inlet, according to IEC C8, with integrated EMI filter meets the increasing demands of IT, medical and consumer appliances for cost reduction and downsizing. The 5008 inlet provides a maximum performance and cost savings in a lightweight and environmental friendly package. The new design is now available with options for screw and snap-in mounting version.

The new 5008 series combines an IEC C8 inlet with a line filter for low power applications.  The EMI filter is dimensioned as a 1-stage filter for rated currents up to 2.5 A according IEC respectively 6 A according UL and available as standard or medical version. The integrated EMC filtering mounts directly at the point of power entry, ensuring an optimal effect on the electromacnetic compatibility performance of the unit.

Mounting options include screw-on or snap-in mounting. The snap-in mounting technique reduces the assembly costs considerably for reduced handling and ease of assembly. The connection is made with quick-connect terminals. Optional solder terminals are also available.

The unit is designed for use in IT, medical and home applications appliances. The 5008 is the optimal solution, combining uncompromised features and performance with compactness of design to meet the increasing demands in cost efficiencies and ecological concerns. The series is ENEC and cURus approved and complies with IEC/EN standards for office and medical equipment, 60950 and 60601-1 respectively.

Technical Features:
* Appliance inlet IEC C8 acc. to 60320 with EMI filter
* Current ratings: up to 2.5A at 250 VAC (ENEC/UL/CSA) or  A at 125/250 VAC (UL/CSA)
* Screw-on mounting and snap-in mounting
* Standard and medical version
