Crydom has combined solid state and mechanical switching
technologies to create a contactor with longer operational life
than standard EMR's in an industry standard package!
Crydom, global expert in solid state relay technology, introduces a new line of high power Hybrid Solid State Contactors for use in Heating and Lighting applications where Mercury Displacement Relays have previously been applied, and where life cycle constraints limit the use of Definite Purpose Contactors.
Mounting identically to a standard 3 phase DP (Definite Purpose) contactor, and featuring full load life cycle ratings of greater than 2 million operations, the new RHP line includes 3 phase contactor configurations rated at 120, 240, 280 or 600 VAC at 40 or 50 amp load ratings per phase at 65 degrees C ambient temperature. Control voltages of 24, 120 or 220 VAC, and unique logic compatible 5, 12 or 24 VDC input control options are offered. The RHP line is UL and cUL approved and CE certified.
The RHP line incorporates Crydom's proven Hybrid SSR technology that utilizes contactless Solid State Relay turn on and turn off performance, coupled with the very low on state power dissipation characteristics of contactors, thus eliminating the need for heat sinking. The higher power switching capabilities of the new RHP line means that in those applications where Mercury Displacement Relays are no longer welcome, the OEM manufacturer now has a cost effective alternative available. Similarly, in applications where contactor life cycles are a limiting or maintenance cost concern, the new Crydom RHP Contactor provides significantly longer operational life capability in an identical mounting package.

Small, Tough Switch for Hydraulic Brake Systems
in Harsh Environments
Honeywell introduces the Series 1000 pressure switch for potential hydraulic brake pressure applications. Honeywell’s Series 1000 switch excels in brake systems used in many harsh environments such as extreme weather conditions or particle-filled areas due to its IP65 sealing and high burst rating. With its high resistance to shock and vibration, this pressure switch is designed to withstand pressure spikes in critical systems.
Honeywell Sensing and Control has utilized our engineering expertise to reduce part count on this product by approximately 75%. With fewer parts, the switch’s cost and complexity are optimized. The new design may contribute to lowering installation time by minimizing the time required for adjustments and potentially the need for field maintenance. The result is reduced field failures, even in the most demanding environments. Custom versions of this product have been in operation for over 2 years in 20,000 ATVs with no known field failures reported.
With its small size and superior sealing, the Series 1000 pressure switch may be used to actuate brake lights in brake systems for small vehicles used in many harsh environments. Typical vehicles include ATVs, snow, and sport vehicles as well as smaller motorcycles and scooters. The switch may also be used in applications where high operating pressure and low set point are required. Other potential applications may include hydraulic brake systems in small vehicles, compact agriculture tractors, utility vehicles (UTVs), trucks, lift trucks, and other small self-propelled vehicles.

Finder has announced the introduction of the 7P Series of Surge Protection Devices (SPD), developed specifically to comply with BS-EN62305: Protection Against Lightning, providing protection against lightning strikes, or surges caused by short circuit and contact switching in electrical systems.
The 7P SPD Series employs replaceable varistors, enabling the cost effective replacement of the active element of the SPD when required. As Type 2 arresters for single-phase and three-phase electrical system, they will appeal to the design and manufacture of systems and electrical equipment for use in buildings, where the safety issues associated with lightning have to be addressed.
There are four versions in the 7P Series, all of which provide visual and remote signalling of varistor status, providing a clear indication to building maintenance personnel when replacement is needed.
The publishing of the BS-EN62305 series fundamentally changed the way the UK addresses the issue of lightning protection for buildings and makes the assessment of the associated risks and their mitigation a statutory requirement.
Virtually all elements of a building’s structure, its electrical services and the electrical equipment within it must be considered for the risk aspects associated with the potential for lightning strikes.
Protection devices such as the Finder SPD range are employed to reduce the risk of hazards to life and physical damage to persons, reduce the risks of damage to structures and services and to minimise failure of electrical and electronic systems and equipment within the structure of a build.
Finder’s 7P series is available in 4 different versions:
Single-phase systems:
7P.21.8.275.1020 Varistor protection (L - N)
7P.22.8.275.1020 Varistor protection (L - N) + spark gap
protection (N - PE)
3-phase systems:
7P.24.8.275.1020 Varistor protection (L1, L2, L3-N) + spark gap protection (N- PE)
7P.25.8.275.1020 Varistor protection (L1, L2, L3 - N) + varistor protection (N-PE)
